The proof is that the guitar is still made to this very day, because it has proven High tuning ratio and stability. The neck is made out of mahogany and definitely has a good feel on the fingers. Also known as the Bluegrass Special, the Guild D50 debuted in the early '60s. Though this dreadnought guitar debuted in 1963, it ran for a couple of decades and experienced a variety of Guild D-50 Bluegrass Special 4. The label inside is known as the Fourth Label, in use from 1974 until 2001. I bought my first Guild 10 years ago and have owned 6 Westerly Guilds two D40s, a D50, A25, etc. A few years ago, I saw a 1970 Guild D-50 with a Brazilian rosewood back and East Indian rosewood sides. What I am using as a "standard" is a Guild D50. Binding has been re-glued in a few places. The Guild D50 is a dreadnought acoustic guitar that has twenty frets and isn't an acoustic/electric, so it doesn't have any pick ups or setting controls.
